Who's Night Tempo?
Night Tempo is a South Korea based track maker / DJ. He is a pioneer and being at the front of the genre called “future funk.”
Future funk itself has been given birth to under influence of “Vaporwave.” Vaporwave is a relatively newly born electro music genre whose tracks are often sampling retro-Japanese city pop pf 70's-90's. His remix of Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic Love (masterpiece of city pop music) on Artzie Music channel has gained more than 9 million views so far!!
Like many future funk/Vaporwave artists do, Night Tempo's artwork features retro pop culture of Japan. In addition, he does not hesitate to show his (huge) love toward Japanese anime called "Sailor Moon." Some of his tracks sample the anime character's voices.
He is also a founder and leading member of international track maker crew "SAILOR TEAM," together with Macross 82-99, Desired, Tanuki, Daviouxx, Aritus, Vantage//, Android52 and Nanidato.
Year of 2019 is the time when Night Tempo is quite active in Japan: the collaboration with Japanese music label enabled him to release "The Showa Groove" series, which is a series of his remix works of retro-Japanese music through 80-90's.
Night Tempo also appeared on the stage of Fuji Rock festival 2019, one of Japanese largest music festival. Here's his post on Instagram showing his setlist there.He is expecting to have Japan tour toward the end of the year.
